α | It all comes back to triangles, things that are triune, what comes in three. I have come to fall in love with these things: geometric shapes with clean lines and simple scalability, the Trinity who has changed my life so powerfully, and friendships/life lessons/business models that come in the number three. The Artisan is a blog that celebrates these things. It's divided into, you guessed it, three sections:
ART
Although I am business-minded by education, design has always been what I was created for. Before selfies were internationally acceptable, my middle school self developed a knack for taking, editing, and sharing photos of my own face. The humorous reality is that everyone starts somewhere. This design distraction led me to incorporate better typography and document formatting into class projects. Eventually I developed my skills beyond free online photo editing applications and Microsoft Word. In fact, I unintentionally and opportunely took an InDesign class on the same week that I was asked to create a marketing brochure on Adobe InDesign by a startup in Shanghai. Since then, I have come to develop logos, brand identities, and business plans using a variety of design applications.
I
My first poems were written long before the poetry unit in 10th grade. Those rhymes written by five-year-old me sang of fun in the sun while munching on a hot dog bun. I definitely improved a decade and a half later with my first ever vignette, one of my favorite personal works still. Writing, in the form of poetry and free compositions, has always been good to me. This format of language allows me to express the musings in depths of my brain cavities with a dash of elegance and a squeeze of creativity. I'd like to think that I am still getting better with every new piece of poetry and writing, but you can be the judge of that.
SAN
In Chinese, San is the phonetic spelling for "three", written 三. In Japanese, San means mountain (it's also used to make greetings more polite). I don't consider it a coincidence that when you condense a mountain into a geometric shape, it becomes a triangle, which is a shape with three sides and three points. Three is also the number of persons that makes God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe in a triune God, who loves me, empowers me, and lives in me. God's love, light, and life is not meant to be contained inside me, but created to overflow out to others. This is my life's greatest hope and where I find my confidence. Here, I share stories of the times Jesus has unquestionably touched my life, through the power of three.
